10 Random Travel Tips No One Asked For

Hey fuckers! I’m writing you today to bring you a random list of travel tips and tricks that I’ve compiled from what’s left of my brain cells.

You are welcome. Let’s get into it.

ONE

Spray some perfume or cologne on yourself from the testers in duty free every time you pass through. This is something I started doing last year and it just adds to the airport experience. It’s like a little treat for putting up with all the chaos of travel.

Every time I pass through the perfume section I pick something I like and give er a good spritz without trying to get caught by the 26 employees in the perfume section. It’s a top tier experience every time. I mean, they are testers… but for some reason I feel guilty just spraying myself and walking away with no intention of buying anything… so I’m always sneaky about it. Yolo.

TWO

Always carry wipes with you. You never know when you’re going to shit your pants. Coming from someone with stomach problems that originated in high school on a volunteer trip to Ghana where I did indeed shit myself on the side of the West African dirt road… you best believe I wish I had wipes that day. I did not. Never again.

THREE

Bring a portable charger that can charge multiple things more than once. Especially for days where you have long travel times or days when you’re out and about all day and into the night, being able to charge your phone/kindle/iPad is everything. Mine is the brand Kopplen from Best Buy. Shit slaps.

FOUR

Do online check in for your flights as early as possible. Usually you can do online check in 24 hours before your flight. This allows you to choose a good seat and pay for your luggage (if necessary) online. Paying for your luggage online is usually way cheaper than doing so at the airport. Don’t wait until like 4 hours before your flight to check in and then bitch about getting a middle seat. You did that.

FIVE

With that, pick a window seat at the back of the plane where there’s empty rows. I know people love to talk shit about the back of the plane saying how it smells like shit cause of the bathrooms and it takes forever to get off… But think about it for a minute. Being closer to the bathrooms means you don’t have to stumble all the way down the aisle to go pee (and in my experience, it rarely smells like shit).

You’re also more likely to get a row to yourself or the middle seat free by choosing the back few rows of the plane because they’re typically filled from the front to the back. This has worked many times for me where I’ve ended up with a full row to myself. So do what you will with that information.

And yeah, sure it takes more time to get off the plane but why are you in such a fucking rush? Just relax and stay in your fucking seat until it’s your turn to go.

SIX

Get a hydrating facial mist you can spray on your face during flights to keep your skin hydrated in the dry plane air. My skin gets so dry on planes, this is just something that will elevate your experience that much more. The more little comforts and conveniences you have when you travel, the more enjoyable it is. My fav is from Glow Recipe, the Watermelon Glow mist. Boujee, yes. But have you fucking met me?

Ok next.

SEVEN

For the girlies: Get a Diva cup for when you’re bleeding. These are so so good for when you’re traveling or for summer when you’re out all day, and for SWIMMING. Oh my god these are a game changer for swimming. It’s ok if you’re scared of them, I was too. It does take some practice and getting used to but once you get the hang of it… life forever changed.

Picture this ok? You’re bleeding 🩸

But you’re spending the day cruising on a catamaran along the coast of Mallorca. You have a tampon in so now you’re thinking of when you’re gonna jump in the water cause if you do you’ll have to change your tampon right after so it doesn’t bleed through and you probably wont go back in the water again cause you don’t want to have to keep changing it. You also can’t flush it cause you’re on a boat so now it’s this whole thing that’s totally fucking up your vibe. How fucking annoying right.

OR you could just get a diva cup, put it up there and leave it for the whole day, not have to think about it at all and jump in the water as many times as you want.

I think I need to write ads for diva cup? Anyway… not an ad (yet).

Point proven, just take the plunge. Literally.

EIGHT

Get a travel blanket that zips up into a pillow. This is one of my most used and beloved travel accessories. Mine is from Amazon. You can check out my travel items list on Amazon here.

They’re multifunctional (can use as a pillow or a blanket) and so comforting. I usually sleep with a fuzzy blanket at home, so it’s like having a piece of home with me. IDK how many times I’ve been in hostels and either had a shitty pillow so I wrapped my head in the blanket, or was freezing in an air conditioned room that only has a top sheet.

NINE

Just relax and enjoy the experience of the actual traveling from one place to another. Listen to music, people watch, watch a good show, write, read, meditate, make a playlist. Use the time you have waiting around in airports and on planes. Make good use of it. Give yourself lots of time if you have travel anxiety and just take it one step at a time.

TEN

When you hit bumps in the road or things go wrong, just take a deep breath and reroute. It’s all part of the experience. Make the most of it because before you know it, it’ll be over and you’ll be thinking back on that trip wishing you didn’t stress so much because it all worked out.

Go with the flow.

Happy traveling 🥰
